How to became Instrument Rating Instructor
The purpose of the course is to train pilots to operate as flight instructors for the achievement of the Single Engine Piston Aircraft (SEP) Instrument Rating (IR) qualification.

Admission prerequisites
The candidate applying for admission to the IRI (A) course must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a valid CPL (A) license with an IR (A) rating;
- Have completed at least 800 hours of IFR flight, 400 of which may have been on airplanes.
OR
- Hold a valid CPL (A) license with an IR (A) rating;
- Hold a valid FI(A) rating;
- Have completed at least 200 hours of IFR flight.
Structure and duration of the IRI Course
The IRI course normally lasts about 30 days, but can have a variable duration depending on the candidate’s needs. The course is structured in two parts:
Theoretical part
The course consists of 35 hours of theoretical lessons (10 hours for holders of an FI rating).
Practical part
The practical course includes 10 hours of flight training (a part of the course is conducted in a flight simulator). Holders of an FI rating are entitled to a reduction of 5 hours of practical training.
